Do without the top chrome covers. That way you can always check the sparkplug, without having to remove the seat & gas tank and all the other nonsence that goes with getting to the sparkplug.
I removed the right side cover the first time I removed the tank. I did leave the left side cover in place to protect the compression release and sparkplug from dirt. Any way the head really looks dorky on the left side and the chrome cover does improve the appearance of the left side.
However I plan to remove the left side cover next time that the tank is off. I think that it is important to have an easy access to the spark plug.
